Welcome back for part 2 of the Red Hulk Wave review.
On to the figures: Spiral- On all accounts this figure was worth the wait. Both paint and articulation are up to par with previous Marvel legends from Toy Biz. With all her arms and signature costume, this figure is easily a classic in this line. I think the 3 new figures in this new wave all represent some of the best work Hasbro has done. The only thing that would make this figure better would be the addition of a few more swords. She comes with 2 and one preeminently in a holder. I would have rather skipped the Red Hulk and gotten more swords. Union Jack- Great paint and great articulation. He can do a split like Van Dame and hold his hands over his head, which is articulation that has been missing from HML. While he does not come with many accessories I think he comes with just enough: a gun and knife. Also, he has a weapons belt which can hold the gun, but I think I might have gotten one that is not made right because only the tip of the knife goes in to the knife holder on the belt. Over all would say this is also one of the best figures yet. Adam Warlock- Of the 3 I picked up this one gets the lowest score, for a number of reasons. First, he is supposed to have an orange skin color and he is a very pale white. Scone the Infinity Gauntlet is a permanent thing on his hand, when this is one place an extra hand would have worked better. And third, he is very vanilla: all black torso and red arms and legs, nothing really spectacular; but it is spot on for the character design from the 90’s. Over all I think this is the best we have seen, but it came for a steep price, $14.99. Red Hulk- While I will not complete him I do have to say he is not as bad as you may think. There are subtle shading and details that I don’t think most pictures of this figure show. A character that is so new to the comic world is not a great choice for a BAF but it’s what we got. Overall I have to say most of the pictures online don’t do this wave justice. I think while Warlock and Spiral come off flat, they are well detailed in person. There is subtle shading where it is appropriate and even the Red Hulk, who looks plain in most pictures, does have an overspray like Hasbro talked about in the last Q&A. Is this line a hit out of the park? No. Character selection is so-so, there are 3 variants of popular characters, a not so exiting BAF, as well as the price hike which is something that really hurts this wave. Gallery Link
