Her green eyes can melt hearts, her long hair is something that your could get lost in for days, and her body is a fan boy’s dream come true. He is a normal person on earth, but when he is whisked away to a alien world he becomes a hero. So how did the Starfire and Adam Strange figures turn out?
Starfire-

One of the most sought after females in the DCU was Starfire. From her first appearance in 1980, she has become the sexiest orange skinned female in the DCU. This Tamaran Princess has been part of the Titans, fought in space wars, and had some wardrobe malfunctions due to her lack of knowledge of human customs. The question is whether she translated well to plastic.

There is no doubt that the Horsemen did a good job mixing different versions of her into this figure, but the final figure did fall a little flat. The sculpt from head to toe is almost a piece of art, the paint was well done, but where she fails, like most other DCUC figures, is scale. She is too short compared to her fellow Titans. Standing next to Nightwing she looks tiny, when she is supposed to be this buff model-like woman. He has to look down to look her in the eye. If you can get her on a flight stand she is perfect, but you should not have to do something like that to make a figure better.

Adam Strange-

Ever wish you could rocket to another planet and become a hero because you’re different? While on Earth, to be a hero you have to be super human, somewhere else you just have to be human. That is what happens when the Zeta beam hits Adam Strange and transports him to the planet he calls home, Rann. This figure is what is right with DCUC. He is wearing a space suit, so he is bulky. He has a pistol and it fits in his holster. He looks like a condiment bar threw up, but you know what, he can pull it off. His right arm did worry me but it loosened up and works just fine now. The colors are vibrant and clean. I do wish I could take off his pack, but it is not something I am willing to say ruins the figure. Of all the new figures, this one was worth the wait.

Was this first Matty Collector 2 pack worth the price? For Adam, yes. For Starfire, not so much. With the price being about 4 dollars higher, plus shipping, I would have expected her to be the right size. The other reason she is not worth the increased price is that she is a figure that could have really sold well at retail because of the character exposure on the Teen Titans cartoon and comic. On the other hand, Adam would have been a harder sell in the stores. I think Animal Man would have been a better choice for this box set as Adam’s partner. It would have made more sense to have Kori be part of wave 6 or 7, giving us that whole crew from 52 at once.

These are currently available from Matty Collector right now, so hurry before they sell out.
