News this week from Matty on JLU, DCUC, MOTU, and DCD vs. Mattel products.  Check them out inside

Kastor:  If Stratos sees re-release, will his wings and bracelets be capable of swivel movement to position the wings along the outside of the arm when posed standing, as opposed to behind the arm and glued in place like originally designed? In addition, will he see a flight stand?

Matty:  There are not plans to alter the tooling on Stratos so any re-release at this point would be the same figure (but could be in different colors). Flying stands will be available on MattyCollector in the winter which will work with most Mattel 6” figures.

Kastor:  You are releasing a Mary Marvel figure and a Kilowog Collect-and-Connect some time after DC Direct made them. If there is a character you want in the DCUC line, but DC Direct has plans for that same character, is there a window of time that you have to wait before releasing your own version to avoid competition, or is it on a character-to-character basis?

Matty:  We do work very closely with DC Direct to time our figure releases apart. It is usually a give and take of who will get to do a figure first!

Kastor:  DC Universe and MOTU classics have been great with character selection and diversity, but then there was Naruto, the He-Man 200X series, Avatar, and now the Secret Saturdays and Batman: The Brave and the Bold ,  with numerous variants of the main hero(es) and few/no villains or female characters. Where is the balance or what factors determine who/what gets made in a given Mattel property when it’s a kids’ toyline inherently, but collectors may want to purchase them, too, just more than the title character?

Matty:  The basic rule is that a kid aimed line like Brave and the Bold will have more kid friendly redecos of characters (especially the main character) while a collector line like MOTUC will have more character variety.

Kastor:  With the JLU having a new life on Matty Collector, and Matty Collector sets being for the collectors not mom and kids, is Lobo still off limits for the JLU line?

Matty:  Lobo is still up in the air, but he has his best chance of being released on MattyCollector.com.
