A Bold New Direction for the Ninja Gaiden Franchise

Although Tecmo has been publishing Ninja Gaiden titles dating back to 1989, the series really hit its stride in 2004 when Team Ninja and director Tomonobu Itagaki (of Dead or Alive fame) developed a reboot in 2004. After spending five years in development, the new Ninja Gaiden quickly appealed to hardcore gamers with its exciting adventure storyline, deep combat system, streamlined visuals, and challenging gameplay. Now, with a new creative team behind the helm, Ninja Gaiden 3 has been released to mixed fan reactions – but are their concerns justified?

TV Korner: Mad Men 5.3 – “Tea Leaves”

After last week’s nigh-flawless double premiere, I had my doubts that this week’s episode of Mad Men would be able to match up. It didn’t, but average by this show’s standards is still pretty fantastic, so who am I to complain?

Does the New Avengers Trailer Reveal What Aliens are Invading Earth?

A new Avengers spot started making the rounds on TV and online recently. Not only does the trailer continue to tease us with more awesome-looking (and appropriately big-scale action), but we get a much better look at the alien army being controlled by Loki.We know they’re not Skrulls, but could the alien menace be the Korbinites?

Are Michael Bay’s TMNT Plans Worth the Nerd-Rage?

Next year there will be a new live-action movie version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming at us from Michael Bay (he of Transformers infamy), and the producer’s recent hints that the Turtles’ origin is being revamped met lots of harsh feedback from fans online. But even if the continuity-screwing turns out to be true, this professed Turtles fan has to ask– is there enough to TMNT to get up-in-arms about in the first place?

Comics Korner: Week of 3/28/2012

After returning from a whirlwind week in Paris, France where I was lucky enough to experience the comic culture firsthand (they LOVE comics over there), I’m back to the familiar racks of the États-Unis.  Next week will finally bring the arrival of the hotly anticipated Avengers vs. X-Men #1, but this week still has plenty of incredible comics on offer.

TV Korner: Mad Men 5.1 – “A Little Kiss”

It’s been a long year and a half wait for AMC’s Mad Men to return to the air, and this week’s double-length premiere had a lot to offer us starving SCDP addicts. Mass Effect 3’s Campaign Falls Short of Expectations

Mass Effect 3 hit shelves earlier this month to record hype– the fervor emanating from Bioware’s rabid fanbase was almost insurmountable. I personally was dizzy with excitement on March 5th just waiting for the hours to run down to 12am so I could speed home and begin a marathon playthrough of the game that would no doubt be regarded as one of the greatest works of science fiction ever produced. This is, after all, the culmination of hundreds of hours of intense gaming over the course of five years– an epic finale for the cast of characters gamers have come to love so much.
