With The Avengers already in stores, Hasbro is gearing up to release their next Summer movie toy lines in just a few weeks. In preparation for the May 28th release dates, Pre-Order solicits for GI Joe Retaliation and The Amazing Spider-Man have gone live at e-tailers across the web. And much like The Avengers line, both new series are pretty broad in scope and (compared to the past) kind of light on action figures.

The new season of Mad Men continues to charge forward, packing some dense and heavy character studies into what has been a flat-out brilliantly written and beautifully realized season. From a dabble into horror two weeks back to last week’s heartbreaking spotlight on Pete and Lane, I keep expecting the bottom to fall out on just how good this show is, but I’m starting to this that shoe is nowhere near falling– in fact this week’s “Far Away Places” may have been the most compelling and entertaining episode of the season.

For me, one of the most exciting reveals at Toy Fair was NECA’s announcement that they would be releasing a toy line for Prometheus. Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie looks incredibly ambitious and insanely cool, and (I hope) may end up being the best film of the Summer. One of the recent additions to Kotobukiya’s DC Bishoujo Collection was Supergirl, who strikes a fun and flirty pose and makes an excellent addition to the “Pretty Girl” series. Master artist Shunya Yamashita does justice to the last daughter of Krypton, and the resulting statue is a must-have for any fans of the DC comics heroine or Bishoujo artwork.

Last week, pictures surfaced for a mysterious new line of GI Joe figures including some 25th/ modern takes on the ’91 era commando Snake Eyes, Ninja Force Storm Shadow, modern Shipwreck and more. Since then, General Joe’s has added some “insider intel” to the mix, claiming these Joes will be a second-tier retail assortment, designed as repaints to reduce cost and get them carried at second tier outlets such as Family Dollar or Dollar General.
