Last week, pictures surfaced for a mysterious new line of GI Joe figures including some 25th/ modern takes on the ’91 era commando Snake Eyes, Ninja Force Storm Shadow, modern Shipwreck and more. Since then, General Joe’s has added some “insider intel” to the mix, claiming these Joes will be a second-tier retail assortment, designed as repaints to reduce cost and get them carried at second tier outlets such as Family Dollar or Dollar General.
We’ve know for a while now that Loki’s alien army would be getting the toy treatment in Hasbro’s The Avengers movie series. Buzz around Toy Fair back in February seemed to suggest we’d see at least two soldier figures– a single-pack and a deluxe version– to troop build the forces of the sinister God of Lies in his campaign against Earth’s mightiest heroes. Now those rumors have been confirmed… along with the long-lived question of what kind of aliens these guys actually are.
Big Bad Toy Store has updated their preorder page for The Walking Dead TV Series Two, which now includes our first look at the latest batch of figures coming this Fall from McFarlane Toys. We have know since Toy Fair that this second round of toys based on AMC’s TV series would feature a second take on Rick, plus his buddy turned (SPOILER) murder victim Shane, and three new zombies, and now we’ve got our first glimpse at the final product. Much like the show’s second season as a whole, the results are kind of a mixed bag.
The GI Joe Collector’s Club is gearing up for their most exciting year, ever– the 2012 subscription Footloose is in the mail to most Officer Level club members now, the Figure Subscription Service will finally go live soon, and the 2012 GI Joe Con is coming up fast starting June 28th. And with just two months until the Con, the Club confirmed this year’s set will feature fan favorite Russian super soldier team, The Oktober Guard! The first reveal is the Russian sniper Daina, and she looks incredible.
Months before Toy Fair, rumors started swirling around a mysterious listing posted on amazon.com for an alleged exclusive GI Joe Retaliation Preview 4-Pack. While the listing disappeared and Hasbro kept mum of any movie preview sets at Toy Fair, in-hand product shots have now hit the web featuring an Amazon-branded box set… and more exciting is, it’s clearly labelled “Premiere Pack,” so odds are we will be seeing this sooner than later! But the excitement doesn’t end there… Amazon is apparently also releasing a new Renegades 4-pack, too! Get all the latest Retaliation toy news right now.

Mike Thompson, the artist responsible for many of the incredibly cool character package portraits seen in Hasbro’s GI Joe: Pursuit of Cobra series recently shared some unreleased character art on his Twitter feed. The headshots reveal the modern reinterpretations/ POC designs we would have seen for Dr. Mindbender, Zap and Budo, along with the Nano-B.A.T. (who we know was rolled in to the GI Joe Collector’s Club subscription service). Check out more headshots to see what could have been!
