Missed the Boat: NECA’s Gremlins Line is Awesome

Sometimes it’s tough to keep up with every corner of the pop culture universe, and things will fall through the cracks, even though they certainly don’t deserve to. That happened with NECA’s new line of figures based on the Gremlins movies, which started hitting stores late last year. That may have been months ago, but these guys are just so cool I had to write about them!

Zartan & The Cobra Trooper Join The Retaliation Ranks

We’re only a few weeks away from the release date of Hasbro’s GI Joe Retaliation toy line, but some shipping snafus meant some figures were shipped early via toysrus.com, and I was lucky enough to score Zartan and the Cobra Trooper before they were pulled from the website. Check out a sneak peek at both villainous Cobras in their latest figure versions!

Jakks Pacific Men In Black 3 Figures Are Really Fun Toys

Men In Black 3 is one of those Summer movies I keep forgetting about. The long-delayed project has been talked about and scrapped so many times the idea of it actually being released seems like a foreign concept. The fact that it’s finally hitting the big screen got a little more concrete this week, as the Jakks Pacific MIB3 action figures started finding their way to retail. And while I have very little doubt the latest adventure of Agents J and K will be awful, the toys are actually pretty neat, for a number of reasons.

Amazon Gives Joe Fans A Retaliation Preview In Plastic

Rumors of an Amazon exclusive GI Joe Retaliation preview set started swirling months ago, and after a lull of no information, we quickly went from confirmation of the set to an in-stock listing, and now the first batch of Retaliation preview sets are shipping out. This set features four figures from Hasbro’s upcoming Retaliation toy line, in a special display box. Three of the figures seem to be identical to their single carded versions, while the fourth gets a new variant, apparently exclusive to this box set. Check out an up-close look at Amazon’s GI Joe Retaliation premiere set right here… keep reading.

DC Bishoujo Review: Supergirl Flirts and Flies Into Three Dimensions

One of the recent additions to Kotobukiya’s DC Bishoujo Collection was Supergirl, who strikes a fun and flirty pose and makes an excellent addition to the “Pretty Girl” series. Master artist Shunya Yamashita does justice to the last daughter of Krypton, and the resulting statue is a must-have for any fans of the DC comics heroine or Bishoujo artwork.

Square Enix/PAK’s Arkham Asylum Batman & Joker Review

Based on 2009’s blockbuster title by Rocksteady Games, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on Square Enix’s Arkham Asylum figures since we saw them earlier this year at Toy Fair 2012.  Since acquiring their take on Batman and Joker and being able to physically play around with them, I can say that Square Enix has arguably released two of the finest crafted Batman action figures ever produced.  Really, you shouldn’t even be reading this – you should be here ordering them for your collection right now.  But in case you need some details to convince you, let’s take an in-depth look at each figure individually…

Mass Effect 3 Inaction Figures: Series 1 & 2 Review

Distributed by DC Direct and originally slated for a Summer 2010 release, the first series of Mass Effect action figures suffered one delay after another with a small assortment sneaking onto shelves in April 2011 before disappearing completely.  Frustrated with DC’s handling of the line, Bioware pulled the plug on their partnership and later announced they would be working with Big Fish Toys to revive the initial run of four figures as well as a second series.  This week, all eight 6.8” action figures from Bioware & Big Fish Toys are beginning to ship to customers who had pre-ordered and, in keeping with the Mass Effect 3 namesake, are a colossal disappointment.
