Hasbro has released the Amazing Spider-Man movie toys, and while the line is fairly underwhelming for collectors, there’s a few treasures buried in this line. The best of the bunch is the fantastic new Super-Articulated movie Spidey, who really shows how well Hasbro can pull off a great toy when they want to.

There’s a lot of vehicles out there for the GI Joe Retaliation series, and much like the rest of the line they range from pretty good to downright bad. While it looks like we won’t get past wave one of any size vehicle until 2013, on shelves now is the first assortment of larger scale Delta vehicles, and they’re worth a look for Joe fans.

Mattel has released several styles of toys to support The Dark Knight Rises, with a 4″ line of kid-oriented toys, a new cartoon-style Batman line and a continuation of the Movie Masters series, with more movie-style sculpts courtesy of the Four Horsemen. The Joe collecting community has a tendency to go a little nuts when Hasbro tries to sneak one past us, and that’s exactly what happened with this mystery wave of six figures that showed up on the forums with no explanation from Hasbro as to when and where they would be available… and not even what they were.

On top of the single-carded figures, Hasbro’s new GI Joe Retaliation line will also feature some themed 3-packs, made up predominantly of repaints and main character variants, with a few surprises thrown in to keep things interesting. Under the label “Ninja Showdown,” the first two sets– available as part of the Retaliation launch on May 28th– earn the name with lots of ninja action.

Ending our look at GI Joe Retaliation Wave One, we’ve got a pair of troop builders that complete the collection, and quite frankly, put the rest of the line to shame. The GI Joe Trooper and the Red Ninja remind us that when Hasbro wants to bring their “A” game, they still can– these figures are sure to be the most popular in the assortment.

Continuing our look at GI Joe Retaliation Wave One, here’s a look at Duke and Cobra Commander. The Joe leader and the villainous head of Cobra are the final two character figures in the new assortment, and both make decent– if not Earth-shattering– additions to the Retaliation ranks.

Sometimes it’s tough to keep up with every corner of the pop culture universe, and things will fall through the cracks, even though they certainly don’t deserve to. That happened with NECA’s new line of figures based on the Gremlins movies, which started hitting stores late last year. That may have been months ago, but these guys are just so cool I had to write about them!

We’re only a few weeks away from the release date of Hasbro’s GI Joe Retaliation toy line, but some shipping snafus meant some figures were shipped early via toysrus.com, and I was lucky enough to score Zartan and the Cobra Trooper before they were pulled from the website. Check out a sneak peek at both villainous Cobras in their latest figure versions!

Men In Black 3 is one of those Summer movies I keep forgetting about. The long-delayed project has been talked about and scrapped so many times the idea of it actually being released seems like a foreign concept. The fact that it’s finally hitting the big screen got a little more concrete this week, as the Jakks Pacific MIB3 action figures started finding their way to retail. And while I have very little doubt the latest adventure of Agents J and K will be awful, the toys are actually pretty neat, for a number of reasons.

Rumors of an Amazon exclusive GI Joe Retaliation preview set started swirling months ago, and after a lull of no information, we quickly went from confirmation of the set to an in-stock listing, and now the first batch of Retaliation preview sets are shipping out. One of the recent additions to Kotobukiya’s DC Bishoujo Collection was Supergirl, who strikes a fun and flirty pose and makes an excellent addition to the “Pretty Girl” series. Master artist Shunya Yamashita does justice to the last daughter of Krypton, and the resulting statue is a must-have for any fans of the DC comics heroine or Bishoujo artwork.

Based on 2009’s blockbuster title by Rocksteady Games, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on Square Enix’s Arkham Asylum figures since we saw them earlier this year at Toy Fair 2012. Since acquiring their take on Batman and Joker and being able to physically play around with them, I can say that Square Enix has arguably released two of the finest crafted Batman action figures ever produced. Really, you shouldn’t even be reading this – you should be here ordering them for your collection right now. But in case you need some details to convince you, let’s take an in-depth look at each figure individually…
