Marvel announced last night that the Man Without Fear has a new face. Throughout the day there were rumors about Cox’s casting and finally last night Marvel made the official announcement.
Marvel is proud to announce that acclaimed actor Charlie Cox has joined “Marvel’s Daredevil,” an all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015. Best known for his acclaimed work in “Boardwalk Empire” and “Stardust,” Cox will play Matt Murdock, the lead role in this all-new Marvel Television series. Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
The role, previously played by Ben Affleck in the early 2000’s, was not received well by audiences, but a directors cut of the film fixed some of the issues. Fox lost the rights last year, bringing Daredevil back under Marvel Studios. This will be the first of five series of Marvel heroes on Netflix, which will connect to the larger Marvel movie world. Shooting starts this summer, and will no doubt be a feature at SDCC this year.
