“Eleanor” Die Cast Car (Greenlight Collectibles)
Time for my second confession of this unboxing– I was too young to ever appreciate the original Gone In 60 Seconds, yet too rational to consider the Nicolas Cage remake anything more than a footnote in the curriculum vitae of one of our weirdest, greatest actors. I’ve probably seen the Cage version of Gone in 60 Seconds a dozen times since it was released in 2000, but when I unboxed this Hot Wheels scale version of Eleanor, I honestly didn’t know which version of the movie it was based on. Turns out it was the latter (good, since it’s the one I’ve seen more by a country mile)… and while I doubt I need to qualify based on the last few sentences, I’m now and forever NOT a Hot Wheels guy. That being said, I appreciate the film accuracy of this metal and plastic Eleanor toy in its window box packaging, and I appreciate the attention to detail in its articulated hood, revealing that sweet, sweet engine that Nicolas Cage once poured over.
