S.H. Figuarts Expands the Galaxy with Obi-Wan Kenobi

Figuarts-Obi-Wan-Kenobi-feaBandai/Tamashii Nations flexes their muscles with the Star Wars license and gives us Obi-Wan Kenobi based upon his Episode I look.

100_2232Okay I know most of the Star Wars fan community wants to omit the prequels from existence, but you cannot deny that the Duel of the Fates lightsaber scene was totally iconic. The S.H. Figuarts Obi Wan is equipped with four sets of hands to make different poses to replicate this great scene. Also included with this figure is an alternate head, and an awesome addition to the set with the inclusion of Qui-Gon Jin’s green lightsaber. Finally we can have the final battle with Darth Maul!

Obi-Wan features the amazing detail and articulation that S.H. Figuarts is known for. He is light enough to hold poses well and does not fall over easily. The details of his outfit are perfect, and I noticed no paint flaws at all.

My only issue with this figure (and I am not sure if this is just isolated to mine) was the lightsaber hands were drilled differently than the previous releases making the weapon very difficult to fit on the peg. I have asked around and it seems that this hand design was made to allow the wrist holding the sabers to be more realistic. The lightsabers fit VERY snug in his hand, and it felt like I was going to break them while trying to get them in place.100_2226

I was very happy with this figure overall (even with the hand issues), and highly recommend it for all Star Wars collectors. If you can find him on the Japanese retailer sites, you may be able to get him for $50-$55 after the conversion from Yen to Dollars before shipping. Secondary American sites have him listed between $60-$70.

JQ gives S.H. Figuarts Obi-Wan Kenobi a 8.8/10.
