SDCC 2017: The Diamond Select Minimates Booth and Panel

As usual at SDCC the Minimate Panel did not disappoint, giving us some new properties as well as some much needed updates.

The future of Minimates looks bright with Vinimates taking a big role, and hopefully a bite out of the Pop market, in the DST line up over the next year. We were at the panel and for the DC Vinimates the waves will alternate from comic, to film, to Games, to animation, allowing for collectors to pick and choose and not feel overwhelmed by too much at once. Vinimates will range from Predators to Caddyshack, and are the perfect line to decorate your office space.

For those of you still holding out hope that DC Vinimates will translate to DC comic Minimates there was a resounding NO from the panel. Would they like to, yes, but DC is holding on tight to those licensing rights. TMNT was also brought up at the panel since they were missing from the show, and the answer is DST is still planning on releasing them and will update us if that changes. We also got a sneak peak of the Kingdom Hearts Minimates at Toy Fair, but they were also missing, with DST focusing the Select and Vinimate lines for that property.

We got to also see the new Marvel Minimates Series 75 with the first Build a Figure Minimate of Daisy Johnson, the first figure from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Walgreens will be continuing with not only Marvel Animated, but also movie figures starting with Thor Ranarok, and then continuing next years with Infinity War. Breaking down the upcoming Toys R Us Marvel Minimates waves that are being shown first at SDCC.
