The Mattypalooza panel from NYCC was riding off a few highs from Power Con featuring another New Adventures character, a female Horde member, another Snake Man, and the Ultimate Castle Grayskull announcement. It had big shoes to fill. Fans waited for a few new scant reveals in the panel, something not premiered at the Mattel booth.

Like the rest of the September offerings for Masters of the Universe Classics, there are pluses and minuses to be had with the Snake Men two-pack, but the good outweighs the bad, regardless of the toy’s sinister allegiances.

While the threat of paint scrapping off loomed over our collective heads, the Masters of the Universe September releases themselves came out fairly well, and while I do have to treat these guys with kid gloves, I can’t help but think they still look and pose amazingly. Mekaneck was outstanding, but Dragon Blaster Skeletor was no slouch, either.

September’s Masters of the Universe Classics gave us three incredible releases. A one-month lineup that delivers Dragon Blaster Skeletor and a pair of cool Snake Men troop builders would be cool on its own, but the fact that Mattel also pushed up the release of Mekaneck really puts September over the top.

For Masters of the Universe Classics, June has provided us with three first-time action figures for Snake Man-At-Arms, galactic overlord Horde Prime, and Beast-Man’s resilient griffin beasts. While the selection may be comprised of niche characters and variants with more reused tooling than we’d like, I personally enjoy the spirit of these characters and the winning final representation of the collaboration between the company and the consumer.
