Last week, ABC aired a Marvel Comics 75th Anniversary special, which contained a (very brief) clip with footage from both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. It was the first moving pictures any of us have seen from the latter movie, and while it’s literally just two shots, it’s awesome to see our two Ant-Men past and present realized on the screen. And we even get a look at the costume!
Speaking of costumes, just after this footage was released, a Twitter account called MoviesBook released a scanned image which they are claiming is the cinematic costume for Yellowjacket, the super villain alter ego of Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross in the movie.
If this is legit, I love it– the suit echoes the design of the Ant-Man costume in such a way that they may be an evenly matched pair when they square off, and yet the colors and details make Yellowjacket unique enough to be easily identified opposite Scott Lang’s pint-sized hero.
Maybe it’s just me, but there also seems to be some slight hints of the Iron Spider design in this look? Maybe that’s a stretch, but considering we’re ramping up for Civil War– and the rumors persist that maybe, just maybe Sony is willing to play ball and let Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe– Hank Pym’s tech could be another alternative to Peter Parker theoretically suiting up with Stark Tech if he IS in the film.
Speculate away on that one while looking at this potential Yellowjacket design… What do you think? Do you dig it as much as I do?
