Fun fact– the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Age Of Ultron was supposed to make its debut next Tuesday on ABC, during the next episode of Agents of SHIELD. Then, it leaked today online, in a crappy, lo-res format that was less than ideal.
Marvel could have been stodgy old coots about it, and started chasing down all the leaked versions circulating the web (a fool’s errand, obviously… not even Disney is big enough to control the internets). But instead, they proved how much they GET IT, released the trailer online, six days ahead of schedule… and even got a little silly, blaming the leak on Hydra. It’s almost embarrassing how much I love this studio.
And it’s awesome! All the hints that Age of Ultron is going to get dark seem to be true– there’s some heavy stuff going on here, and James Spader’s narration as Ultron has me thinking we may finally see a Marvel Cinematic Universe villain as interesting as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.
Plus, we get to see lots of the twins, Tony suiting up in his Hulkbuster armor, Ultron’s drone army and lots of really exciting stuff that makes me desperately wish tomorrow were May 1st, 2015.
The more I write, the less time I will have to rewatch this trailer, so I’m gonna leave it at that for now. Check the trailer out below, and let us know what you think of this first look at Age of Ultron!
Oh, and Marvel also took the opportunity to release a new poster for the movie, as well– it may not be quite as exciting as that trailer, but hey… I’ll take all the Avengers I can get right about now!
