You hear of blockbuster signings in sports all the time, but not as often in the comic world. That all changed today when Brian Michael Bendis joined the DC Comics team.
Bendis has written for Marvel Comics for 18 years from Ultimate Spider-Man to Secret Invasion. His tenure at Marvel came to an end today with an official announcement via Twitter that he was joining the DC Comics stable. In that statement, DC said that he has signed a multilayered exclusive agreement. Bendis later tweeted, “This is real. I love you all. Change is good. Change is healthy. I am bursting with ideas and inspirations.”

Bendis joins an already stellar writing team at DC Comics. Johns, Snyder, Higgins, and Bendis working together is like a comic book dream team. There is no word when Bendis’s run on the Marvel titles will officially end (as he is working on Invincible Iron Man, Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, and Defenders) and when he will officially start at DC
As a comic book fan, I will be sad to see him leave the Iron Man book as it was just starting to come full circle. As that same fan, I am really excited to see what he will bring to the DC titles!
