The New Catching Fire Poster Is Fantastic!

catching-fire-featTaken from a die hard neutral on the Hunger Games franchise, that’s a big compliment!

I’ll confess, I don’t really have a dog in the Hunger Games fight.  I dug the first movie and plan on seeing the next two (or is it more?)… but it didn’t inspire me to run out and buy the novels or anything.

That being said, it’s certainly a better story, told better, with richer themes and more positive messages than other Young Adult swill out there like Twilight, and Katniss makes a pretty damn inspiring hero.  Pretty much everything I liked about Hunger Games is spotlighted in this gorgeous new poster for Catching Fire, with a painterly look for our heroine as she stands on top of a cliff looking all kinds of badass.

It’s a wonderfully classic image– this would have been a boss cover for a YA book I would want to read when I was a kid (or an even MORE boss VHS cover).  It’s a refreshing step away from the typical photoshopped, debris-in-the-air posters we get for most tentpole movies.  Even as a casual fan (at best) of the series, I’d totally hang this sucker on my wall.

And as luck would have it, I can!  NECA has printed a limited edition of this new one-sheet, which will go on sale May 21st for the impressively reasonable price of $19.95.  They’re taking preorders now, so if you want to own one of these, I’d suggest locking your copy in now.
