Are Chris Miller & Phil Lord Directing Ghostbusters 3?

ghostbusters-featHere is the only reason we may need to pay attention to Ghostbusters 3.

I can’t imagine anyone that isn’t a Sony executive still excited about the prospect of Ghostbusters 3, but to their credit, the latest rumor suggests those execs did the best thing possible to get the rest of us back on board– they might be bringing in Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

Nikki Finke hit Twitter with the rumor late last week that the duo responsible for The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street might be coming in to the long-suffering Ghostbusters reboot.  Every project these guys have done follows a formula– take a terrible idea for a movie, one that is guaranteed to be awful… add them as directors… enjoy a surprisingly well made, charming movie where you only expected garbage.

Ghostbusters 3 definitely has the guaranteed to be awful part down pat, but I’d love for this rumor to be true, and for Lord and Miller to turn this project completely around and make me eat crow for knocking it so many times.

In short, even if this rumor is NOT true… It should probably happen anyway.
