Clash of the Titans:
7” Perseus will be first figure released, but more will follow, including
Zeus, Hades and some of the monsters.
Perseus was the only figure who ended up being produced in enough time to
hit retail before the movie, so they are releasing him solo for now.
Perseus should be in stores any day now.
Also included in this line is a high end prop replica of Perseus’ sword.
Jonah Hex:
7” figures of Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin), Leila (Megan Fox), and Quentin
Turnbull (John Malkovich).
Figures will be released in May, approximately 1 month before the June
release of the film.
Terminator 2:
T-1000 will be added to the lineup of Arnold Terminators.
T-1000 will have several variations, including standard figure in police
uniform, with split-open liquid metal head, and all-silver T-1000. Each T-
1000 will include separate and unique interchangeable weapon hand
accessories, which can be swapped between figures.
The all-silver T-1000 will be an exclusive, but they are not sure where
yet… possibly San Diego.
Predator:
On display were all-new figures based on the Predator from the first film
and the Elder Predator for the final scenes of Predator 2. Both are fully
articulated and will be released this Spring.
NECA also has the license for toys based on the upcoming 2010 “Predators”
film being produced by Robert Rodriguez, but they were not yet allowed to
show the look of the new Predators.
Nightmare on Elm Street:
7” figures of the new Freddy Krueger from the forthcoming 2010 “Nightmare
on Elm Street” as well as the human version of Freddy (sporting a
remarkable likeness to actor Jackie Earl Haley).
NECA is also including a life-size prop replica Freddy glove, which is
wearable.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows/ Twilight: Eclipse:
NECA does still have the licenses for “Deathly Hallow” “Twilight: Eclipse”
toys, but did not have anything on display, because the movies do not
release until the back half of the year and they were only showing products
from the first half at Toy Fair—they will have Harry Potter and Twilight
products on display at Comic Con this Summer.
TMNT:
One of the most exciting pieces of Toy Fair news– there is a chance Series
2 of NECA’s TMNT being released! The series, which debuted at Comic Con
2008, was to include April O’ Neil, The Shredder, Foot Ninja, and Foot
Elite Guard. Due to Playmates’ recent announcement that their Turtles
property was being put on hiatus for 2010, NECA is working with Playmates
and Toys R Us to have Toys R Us carry the line, in addition to specialty
stores. This would provide enough distribution that NECA could go forward
with production of Series 2, including April in different colored jumpsuits
(from the SDCC exclusive blue version), and also allow NECA to reissue the
Turtles themselves. NECA and Toys R Us are both interested, but the final
decision is in Playmates’ hands at this point.
