Star Wars goes dark this Fall with the Black Series… Check out the latest figures on deck from Hasbro’s presentation at Comic Con!
Hasbro detailed their 2013 and 2014 plans for Star Wars at Comic Con, and they have an impressive roster, with four sub series planned for release– The collector driven Black Series, featuring great, detailed sculpts and loads of articulation, will carry on for the rest of this year and ’14, plus we will see more basic figures and vehicles from the Saga Legends series, and the return of the “Build a Droid” concept with the Amazon exclusive Legacy Collection.
I’ve been in and out of Star Wars for a decade, but the Black Series is swaying me back stronger than the Dark Side of the Force. I’m definitely going to be picking up many of the newly revealed Series Two of the 6″ collection, which will see the release of Princess Leia in her Slave Girl costume, Boba Fett, classic Han Solo and Greedo. Hasbro had a few surprised for 6″ fans, too– a Speeder Bike with Biker Scout in 2014, and a Revenge of the Sith Obi Wan coming in the third wave.
The 3.75″ Black Series also looks great, with additions such as a new Mara Jade, Pablo Jill, Luminara, a fully loaded R2D2 and new Clone and Stormtroopers. The basic Saga Legends– with simpler sculpts, five points of articulation and a lower price point– will see the release of Boba Fett, Obi Wan, Jedi Knight Luke, a Stormtrooper and Clone Wars Captain Rex. They will be joined by Mission Series two packs, including C3PO and R2D2, Obi Wan and Clone Wars Darth Maul, and Han Solo and Chewbacca.
New vehicles are set to include Obi Wan’s Starfighter, and the Slave One, which will get an Amazon-exclusive Vintage style packaging, along with a Vintage boxed Tie Interceptor. Amazon will also be releasing a Legacy Collection wave, which will bring back the Build A Droid feature to create a bonus TC-70 figure. Other retail exclusives for the year include a Vintage packed Republic Gunship and X-Wing for Toys R Us, a Darth Vader Origins figure four-pack for Target, and Imperial Scanning Crew and Ewok Catapult packs for K-Mart.
With all this, plus Star Wars Angry Birds continuing, there’s really something for every fan in Hasbro’s Star Wars plans. Check out some brand new press images and booth shots of the newly announced figures below!
