The ambitious shared universe featuring GI Joe, The Micronauts, M.A.S.K., and Visionaries makes its debut at Comic Con thanks to Hasbro and IDW.
We don’t know exactly when Hasbro and Paramount’s shared universe will make its big screen debut, but that world is being built as we speak, and San Diego Comic-Con will mark the first teases of what we can expect. IDW will be releasing SDCC exclusive editions of their new ROM and Micronauts comic books at the show, along with a limited edition print featuring characters from all throughout this new toy-inspired world.
Of course, Hasbro isn’t going to sit on the sidelines, either… they’re bringing two Comic-Con exclusive toys to the booth this year to celebrate the big relaunch. The first exclusive is a box set of three vintage Micronauts figures– Pharoid, Orbital Defender, and Galactic Warrior– recast and packaged in a box with all new artwork by legendary artist Ken Kelly. The second is a Mighty Muggs version of the heroic Leoric from Visionaries, complete with that iconic lion hologram on his chest. Leoric will look awesome alongside the ROM and GI Joe Muggs released in the past.
What I like about these exclusives is they pay tribute to the properties of the past, while not exactly giving any real clues as to what their future relaunched toy lines will look like. I mean, it’s probably safe to assume Joe, Visionaries, Micronauts, and M.A.S.K. will all share a universal scale, right? Hopefully, we’ll learn much more about this ambitious project in a few weeks at Comic-Con. In the meantime, here’s a look at the Micronauts and Visionaries SDCC exclusives Hasbro is bringing to the show, which will also be available in limited quantities on HasbroToyShop.com after Comic-Con.
