Find Out Who Evangeline Lilly & Corey Stoll Play in Ant-Man

Marvel’s Comic Con panel revealed the identity of the two Ant-Man supporting characters.

The Marvel Studios panel at Comic Con this year was slightly underwhelming.  The biggest reveal was the confirmation that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was happening, but no Dr. Strange cast announcement, no new titles revealed… it was all Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man.

The Ant-Man stuff seemed pretty cool, and it made me feel a lot better about this movie’s chances after all the rocky behind the scenes stuff it’s been going through.  Yes, I still feel bummed Edgar Wright is gone, but Peyton Reed is a solid director, and proved himself a bona fide nerd at the panel (this being his 20th Con, he said).  So I’m hopeful.

We already know Paul Rudd is playing our hero, Scott Lang in the movie, and Michael Douglas plays Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man and Scott’s mentor.  But the panel officially revealed two more characters in the movie.  Corey Stoll will play Yellowjacket, confirming the rumors a few weeks ago that Pym’s alter ego was being retro-fitted into the bad guy role in this movie.

More interestingly, Evangeline Lilly will play Hope Pym, the daughter of Hank and Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp).  Casting an older Hank Pym is where things get tricky– in the comics, Hank and Janet are both basically contemporaries of the other Avengers.  With Michael Douglas having almost two decades on any of the Avengers actors, I had been curious how the movies would handle his wife… Would Janet be similarly older, like Hank?  Would they not be a couple at all?

Based on the fact that Hope is an adult, I’d venture a guess that Janet will indeed be Hank’s older wife (or ex wife), and it will be Hope who is set up to become the cinematic version of The Wasp.  That’s just my conjecture, but it seems to make sense,right?
