Is it 2015 already?
Well it’s truly the future after all. Nike Air Mag shoes based off of the design shown more than 25 years ago in Back to the Future Part II first dropped in 2011 for serious collectors with serious cash. But with 2015 inching closer, Nike has decided to release a more affordable version of their popular Air Mag shoes! The shoes themselves use Velcro rather than Power Laces, like the ones seen in the movie, but the high-top style and light up feature will make you look like you just stepped out of Hill Valley in 2015.
Back in February, Sole Collector caught up with famed athletic shoe designer, Tinker Hatfield, at an event in New Orleans and asked if he had any information on a release date for shoes with power laces, to which he replied,
“Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!”
So there you have it. It could possibly be as soon as next year for fans to see a pair of Air Mags with power laces on store shelves. In the meantime, check out the new redesigned Air Mags at HalloweenCostumes.com.
The product is currently sold out, but they’ll be back in stock by the end of September. Just in time for Halloween! There, now you have a reason to buy that ridiculously expensive neon hat that you see every time you walk by Spencer’s. You’re welcome.
