Like every year, the GI Joe Collector’s Club will offer two different souvenir sets at the GI Joe Convention, happening in Dallas, TX this April. The 3.75″ set will feature Cobra zombies versus Eco-Force and more 90s themed Joes, while the 12″ themed set, Codename: G.I. Joe will shine the spotlight on Joe Colton, the original GI Joe.
But for the first time ever, the 12″ set will bleed into the smaller scale Joe universe– the box set includes not only two 12″ Joe dolls, but a cool new 3.75″ Joe Colton, featuring the veteran hero in the blue suit he wore in his first Marvel Comics appearance back in 1988. It’s a great concept, and a nice change from the standard, more military themed Colton figures we’ve seen before, and it makes smart reuse of the suited body from Rise of Cobra Destro and the Club’s own bearded Adventure Team style head.
While the figure will primarily be available in the Codename: G.I. Joe souvenir set, a limited amount will also be sold at the convention on a 25th style card, so 3.75″ collectors in attendance will have their chance to score one, too.
I’m really hoping to make it out to this year’s Joe Con… and this Joe Colton figure is the latest incentive motivating me to start shopping for plane tickets.
