Get a look at some of the upcoming Marvel Legends from Hasbro!
We’re just about one month away from San Diego Comic Con, and Hasbro has just revealed one and a half wave of Marvel Legends figures due out later in 2017. The Marvel Knights wave, most of which is based on the Marvel Netflix TV characters, was teased around Toy Fair with the excellent, small screen accurate sculpts of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Elodie Young’s Elektra, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. This foursome is being joined by comic style takes on Bullseye and Blade… with a massive Build-A-Figure Man Thing. It’s a good assortment… as great as the Toy Biz Bullseye was in his day, he’s due for an upgrade, and the new version is killer, especially the maniacal expression on his alternate, unmasked head. I still like the Toy Biz Man Thing a whole bunch, but Hasbro promises their version is bigger and bulkier, with a rubber overlay over the figure’s torso… so while not the most necessary upgrade, I do think the new figure looks very nice.
I’m a bit bummer Luke Cage got the shaft in this wave… hopefully this is only the first of multiple Knights themed waves, because whether TV or comic, Cage is one hero we desperately need a new version of in the Legends line. And I don’t want to tell you the things I’d do to get a Vincent D’Onofrio Kingpin action figure in my collection.
Here’s the full details on the Marvel Knights, allegedly due to hit retail in August:
MARVEL KNIGHTS LEGENDS SERIES 6-INCH Figure Assortment
(Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $19.99/Available: Fall 2017)
A new lineup of Super Heroes and Super Villains join the LEGENDS SERIES in an impressive 6-inch scale! Featuring extensive articulation, detailed design, and entertainment or comic-inspired styling, each figure comes with a different Build-A-Figure piece. Collect all the figures in this wave to complete the impressive Build-A-Figure. Includes characters such as DAREDEVIL, PUNISHER, and JESSICA JONES. Each figure sold separately. Available at most major retailers and on HasbroToyShop.com.
Hasbro also revealed their first Thor Ragnarok Legends, which will be a mix of comic and movie figures… although only comic characters have been seen thus far. Lady Thor and Odinson are slight variants based on their figures included in the Comic Con exclusive Thor box set, while Ares seems to be a repaint of the incredibly hard to find Wal-Mart exclusive Build a Figure from about ten years ago.
Not gonna lie, I’m not thrilled by this lineup yet… I cannot wait to get Thor with his short hair and Battle World tattoos, and I’m hoping like hell we get a gladiator Hulk (Build a Figure or otherwise)… but considering the SDCC box set, these first previews don’t exactly feel like must-own figures, in my opinion. Still, I respect Hasbro bringing back one of their most rare figures with Ares… he was a gem in the rough during Hasbro’s time trying to find its feet with the Legends line, and he is more than worthy of a purchase, even by modern Legends standards.
You can check out the first photos below, and look for Thor Legends to drop in August… who else do you hope joins this lineup?
