IDW Anounces the Return Of Artist’s Edition Month In November

IDW Artist Edition MonthCan IDW’s Artist’s Edition Month top an already exciting year for the publisher?

What is an artist’s edition? It’s a collection of complete stories with each page scanned from the original art. While appearing to be in black & white, each page has been scanned in color to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art. You are able to clearly see paste-overs, blue pencils in the art, editorial notes, art corrections on each page, bringing the experience of reading an unfinished book from the artist perspective. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art boards.

IDW has decided to bring this concept to some of their current titles. Twelve titles in all will get the artist homage to traditional drawing board style. Titles included in this format are Edward Scissorhands #2, Borderlands #5, G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero #208, Godzilla: Ruler of Earth #8, Judge Dredd #25, The Maxx: Maxximized #13, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #25, TMNT/Ghostbusters #2, Transformers:Drift:Empire of Stone #1, The X-Files: Season 10 #18, V-Wars #7, and WinterWorld #5.

But wait there’s more! Each title included from the list above will also include a blank sketch cover variant to either sketch a great cover yourself or by one of your favorite IDW artists at a con. These titles will make their way to your local comic shops in November, along with the highly anticipated Enemy Ace Artist’s edition.
