Is It 2015 Yet? Ant-Man Scores A Release Date!

The diminutive Avenger gets a post-Avengers 2 release date.

Disney sent out an update of their various upcoming film projects, and amidst the “no duh” reveals that Iron-Man 3 and Thor 2 would be released in 3D, we got this very exciting nugget of news– ANT-MAN is now dated on 11/6/15 wide (Marvel).

This is the first official confirmation that Marvel Studios will be going forward with the Ant-Man movie, which is currently slated to be directed by Edgar Wright.  I guess it’s not a huge surprise, after Wright’s proof of concept footage played at San Diego Comic Con to basically universal approval, but now it’s on paper that this is happening… and it seems that it will happen after Avengers 2 and maybe even the SHIELD TV show.

This makes me curious if Marvel will wait until this movie to introduce Hank Pym or Scott Lang (Or both? It’s anybody’s guess right now who’s going to be under that helmet), or spin them off into the solo movie after having them show up in one of the earlier team projects.  The amount of lead time makes me feel pretty confident we’ll see Pym before Ant-Man, either as a guest star on the ABC series or with some kind of role in Avengers 2.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is final title of previous “Marvel Untitled” – previously announced 8/1/14 is unchanged (Marvel)

DISNEY ANIMATION UNTITLED is now dated on 11/7/14 wide
