Ghostbusters 3 didn’t have much in its corner, as far as I’m concerned. But the rumor that Chris Miller and Phil Lord might have been attached was one shining star amongst a sea of bad-sounding ideas. Not only are these two great with comedy and characters, they have a track record of making awful sounding films into something truly special.
Whether or not they could have done the same for the much-maligned third Ghostbusters movie… we’ll likely never know. But I’ll say this– without them on board, I am back to approaching zero excitement for this sequel/ reboot/ whatever. And if it’s true they looked at it and declined, well, I don’t think I want to know how lousy the project is looking so far.
This news came from Jeff Sneider at the Wrap, who posted it recently on Twitter:
Hearing LORD & MILLER ended up walking away from GHOSTBUSTERS 3 job. They were the studio’s choice but wanted to keep their options open…— Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) 7 Apr
