Today, Marvel held a major event which we all assumed would confirm Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange… but I don’t think many of us were expecting that we’d get the FULL lineup of the next NINE movies on deck for the studio. But here it is:
Holy shit. What a list!! I feel that this lineup is more of a long-term win than a surprise– Black Panther, Captain Marvel and The Inhumans have all long been rumored to be in development, but it’s great to finally see them become a reality… especially since Black Panther and Captain Marvel will finally give us some non-white male super hero leads… That’s incredibly exciting!
What DOES come as more of a shock is the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. Base don the name, I guess this will be the throwdown with Thanos, and a way to tie in the space faring Guardians of the Galaxy and the mystical Doctor Strange alongside the more terrestrial Avengers… but does this mean Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans have re-upped for a new contract? They both had only one movie left in their deals after Civil War, so I’m curious what kind of magic Marvel pulled off to theoretically get them back for, essentially, Avengers 3 and 4?
This is SO exciting to me, especially seeing all the new title cards released as part of the event:
There’s a lot more to talk about, but for now, let’s all celebrate this EPIC reveal. It’s hard to argue that no matter what Warner and DC have up their sleeve, Marvel is here to stay!
