Mutant Mania channels M.U.S.C.L.E. for a new generation.
I wasn’t super familiar with Australian company Moose Toys, but they launched a totally fun new toy line at New York Comic Con called Mutant Mania, a collection of beastly minifigure wrestlers in the classic M.U.S.C.L.E. men tradition. But there’s a difference here– the Mutant Mania figures are customizable, with easily swappable heads, upper and lower bodies!
The figures are well sculpted, with bizarre designs based on mutated animals like rhinos, snakes and more, as well as even more out there creatures of all manner of shapes, textures and colors. The figures stand about 1.5″ tall, so they’re even in the MUSCLE scale, and they can be mixed and match… as well as duke it out in the wrestling ring (complete with joysticks to control each wrestler, another nod to the MUSCLE play dynamic). If fighting isn’t your thing, there’s also a van which folds out to include a table to operate on one of the wrestlers, and more action features.
As a lifelong M.U.S.C.L.E. fan, I was totally charmed by these little guys. The figures come packed in different sized multi-packs, many of them packed blindly, and there’s over 120 of them to collect in the first series alone! The Mutant Mania collection is available now exclusively at Toys R Us, and will be expanding to other retailers soon.
