Sideshow Collectibles’ first ever NYCC appearance featured a visually dynamic showcase of their high end figures and statues from many corners of the geek world.
It took ten years for Sideshow to come to New York Comic Con, and based on their first ever booth on the floor of the Javits, it was worth the wait. The showcase included some amazing upcoming releases, such as the Spider-Man Premium Format Figure (complete with a black costume variant), and Wolverine and Sabertooth figures with coordinating bases.
The women of the DC Universe were well represented, with Premium figures of Supergirl, Batgirl, and Catwoman, and Sideshow also featured Lady Death and the stunning new Red Sonja figure, standing victorious on top of a giant snake she just vanquished.
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight inspired some incredibly realistic statues of Batman and the Joker from the film, and Sideshow’s original property Court of the Dead looked amazing, with all four other-worldly (under-worldly?) figures on display including Gethsemoni, the Queen of the Dead, Gallevarbe, the Siren, Shard, the Mortal Rising, and Kier, the Valkyrie of the Dead.
Hot Toys also had a presence at the booth, with their upcoming Deadpool 1:6 figure, as well as the impressive armies of the First Order, with a variety of 1:6 Stormtroopers as they will appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
If I were a rich man, I’d own probably all these figures. Sideshow’s design team has become one of the best in the business, and the detail, accuracy, and dynamism of their figures is second to none.
