It’s 2am and I need to be on a 7am train back to the city for the first day of New York Comic Con, so I’ll keep this brief for now (with a full recap of Hasbro’s awesome ‘Twas the Night Before’ party coming soon, I promise)…
In the meantime, here’s the quick rundown of new products and reveals from the event:
Avengers Legends will begin rolling out in December with the comic-style figures, and a total of four waves are still planned, each with a unique Build-A-Figure. While we didn’t get to see a new BAF, Hasbro did have on display a stunning Valkyrie who will be part of Series Two, along with all new move versions of Captain America and The Hulk, slated for the same BAF Thanos wave.
Marvel Infinite showed off a new wave consisting of Thunderstrike, Vulture, Shanna the She-Devil, Juggernaut Colossus, Daredevil and a truly badass Doctor Octopus, as well as variants for The Beast (in grey) and Sandman (all sand deco). It looks like Infinite may very well be the only 3.75″ scale Marvel figures in 2015, as the Avengers: Age of Ultron collection will follow suit with this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy model, featuring 2.5″ basic figures and the 6″ scale Legends. Other Age of Ultron items on display were some great new play action toys, such as a new Cap shield, Iron-Man repulsor gloves and a new set of Hulk Hands… now with moveable fingers!
Not to be outdone, Star Wars was well represented with new additions for the basic and Black series 3.75″ lines, as well as some show-stopping new entries to the 6″ Black Series. New 3.75″ figures include all-new takes on Han Solo with his Carbonite prison, a Jawa two-pack, and an updated Leia in her Boushh bounty hunter disguise.
Leia’s bounty hunter alter ego is actually getting a lot of love, as she will also make her 6″ Black series debut alongside IG-88, The Emperor, Commander Cody, Luke and Han in Stormtrooper disguises, and another Clone Trooper. It appears that Palpatine and Luke as a Stormtrooper will be in one wave, while Leia, IG88 and Cody will make up another wave.
Hasbro had tons of new Transformers on display, in a variety of formats ranging from Generations-style collector figures to basic models and lots of new Kre-O sets, all of which are venturing past the Age of Extinction theme we saw in 2014.
Like I said, I will be back with more of the other awesome stuff Hasbro had going on at the pre-NYCC party, but in the meantime, check out our huge photo gallery from the event… as well as some brand new press images from Hasbro!
