Love him or hate him, this is happening.
Deadline.com reports that Reynolds is “closing a deal” with Fox in regards to taking up the title character role for the 2016 Deadpool movie. A picture, along with a personal message from his twitter feed, recently all but confirmed the news.
No other roles have been cast at this time, but the likelihood of this film tying in to Fox’s popular X-Men movie franchise is something that producers and writers from the studio have been telling fans to expect all the way from the official announcement of the project back in September.
Though the film will be working off the Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick script that leaked way back in 2010, Fox has been slow on releasing any official details about the film’s plot. As of right now though, the Deadpool movie is moving forward and seeming more likely, as news is gradually revealed, to actually get made *fingers crossed*.
Deadpool is slated to be released in February of 2016, Starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, off the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland and G.I. Joe: Retaliation); and directed by Tim Miller of Blur VFX studios.
