Playmates Toys TMNT/WWE Superstars Leonardo as John Cena

By jman - December 20, 2016

Playmates Toys and the WWE (yes, we’re talking about the World Wrestling Entertainment here) have teamed up to bring a new line of figures exclusively to Wal-Mart.  It’s the mash-up you never knew was missing from your existence:  Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the WWE All Stars, joining forces as…Ninja Superstars!

The new line of 6 inch figures, based on some of your favorite wrestlers, includes: Raphael as Sting, Donatello as Undertaker, Michelangelo as the “Macho Man” Randy Savage and the reason we’re all gathered together here today…Leonardo as John Cena.

The Leonardo figure comes decked out wearing Cena’s trademark gear.  Right down to his “U (don’t) C Me” cap and “Never Give Up” shirt.  Not to mention elbow and knee pads, taped up wrists and fingers and Cena-style boots.

Overall, Leo as Cena is a fun figure.  He’s fairly articulated with rotating ball joints in the shoulders, elbows, legs and calves.  And nice pivot joints at the wrists.  This guy is meant to mix it up with other WWE figures.  And to that point, Leo comes with a chain, folding chair (to bash some heads in with) and Unites States Champion belt, with Cena’s name emblazoned on it.

The Ninja Superstar figures sport oversized features, mostly in the hands and feet.  At the six inch scale, this line is clearly meant for the little TMNT/WWE fans.  But, don’t worry.  No one’s going to judge you for picking them up.

This mashup between the WWE Superstars and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles really harkens back to the early 90’s when the TMNT teamed up with other properties like the Universal Monsters, and even notably, Star Trek: The Original Series, when the boys donned Star Fleet uniforms of Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Bones and Scotty.

Leonardo (and the other Ninja Superstars for that matter) come in a nice, oversized four color window box, with Cena on the front, and the other figures of the line on the back.

The TMNT/WWE Ninja Superstars retail for $19.99 and are currently only available at Wal-Mart.  If you’re a fan of TMNT or the WWE, you’re definitely going to want to make some room in your collection for these guys.

Thanks to Playmates Toys for giving us the opportunity to check this figure out!

Many thanks to our friends at Playmates Toys for providing the figure for review
