Ggrapptikk Troopers Build the Ultimate Power Lords Army

power-lords-ggrapptikk-featThe Ggrapptikk Trooper realizes the full potential of the Four Horsemen’s new Power Lords toy line.

I think the Glyos system is a pretty good design for action figures, but I’ll admit not all Glyos compatible stuff seems to capitalize on the interchangeable, customizable nature of the base figures.  But the Ggrapptikk Trooper, the final figure in the Four Horsemen’s Power Lords reboot, uses the Glyos angle to its full advantage.

Right out of the gate, we’re already getting a soldier builder in the new Power lords, and the Ggrapptikk Trooper is a fantastic one, a figure that really understands the concept of “troop building.”  The figure shares the same base body as Ggrabbtargg, but features a new paint job, with brilliant blue skin and orange highlights on his armor… but the real treat with this figure are all his extra parts.

The Trooper includes a whopping total of four unique heads, three different sets of forearms, an alternate belt with skirt overlay, and a mace with swappable long and short handles.  This means there’s loads of different options to customize the design of your figure, while the shared base body allows him to still look uniform among his fellow soldiers.

The blue skin of this four armed creature stands out very well against his dark colored armor, and serves as a nice compliment to the blue toned Lord Power on the opposite side of the Power Lords battle lines.  This figure also gets a nice, subtle green wash to shade his tough skin and accentuate the detail of the sculpt, and his garish skin tone fits in well with the equally bright orange and red skin of his commanders.

Really, though, it’s those extras that make this guy a total joy.  The Glyos system means the Ggrapptikk and every Power Lords figure features easily interchangeable limbs, heads and pieces, so all these alternate parts can swap in very easily.  The Trooper’s “standard” head is the fish faced back side of Ggripptogg’s head, but he also includes a Ggrabbtargg and Ggripptogg head, as well as a black helmeted head.  The extra blue forearms mean you can have this creature posed with his double arms side to side like Ggripptogg, or back to back like the other troopers.

The final pieces of this figure are painted in red to match Ggripptogg, allowing you to swap out his two-sided head for a single faced version, and alternate arms to customize the pose of your Ggrapptikk general.  The skirt is another nice extra, which works for either a trooper or his general, and the adjustable handle of his mace is yet another way you can change up the look or your minions.

Originally titled the “Ultimate Edition Barlowe Tribute Ggripptogg,” this Trooper figure was first offered as an autographed exclusive for the Volcan Rock level subscribers to the Power Lords Fan Club.  But it looks like the Horsemen rightly knew they had a hit figure on their hands, because they will be offering a limited quantity of this figure, unsigned, on Store Horsemen along with the rest of Power Lords Series One.  It’s a brilliant move– we all love troop builders, and this guy is one of the best-designed soldier figures I have ever seen.  I can’t wait to expand my Ggrapptikk army!!!

Thanks to the Four Horsemen for giving us the chance to get an early look at this great figure!  The Power Lords Series One will be available for preorder starting TODAY, May 23rd at 3pm at Store HorsemenClick Here to order yours this Friday!
