Did you ever want one of those cool cosplay helmets you see at Comic Con? Well, Bandai America is helping that dream become reality.
The Power Rangers Legacy collection has come a very long way. This Red Ranger helmet is the latest in a line of show-accurate prop replicas, following in the footsteps of the Morpher, the Blade Blaster, and Communicator. And this helmet can let you become the Red Ranger (minus the suit).
The helmet is a 1:1 scale replica which means it is lifesize. It has a one size fits most tag on it, indicating it fits a 21-23 inch head diameter. I tried it on myself and my 7-year-old daughter, and with some adjustments, there were no issues getting it on or off either of us. There are two clips on each side of the helmet to open it and close it. On the inside, there is an adjustable head strap for a more comfortable fit. The visor has pretty clear visibility, there are breathing slits under the visor that helped but with long usage you may see some fogging on the inside.
The plastic used is not what I had thought it was going to be. It is hard to explain as it is not flimsy but it is not hard either. I would use caution if you were going to run around with this as it may crack if you drop it or are hit while playing. The paint application left me speechless, as it is extremely show accurate.
There is a stand included that has a golden painted Mighty Morphin Red Ranger nameplate on the front. The helmet is a must have for the Legacy collector. The price tag of $100 has some scared, but in my opinion is very much worth it. This item can be found at Toys R Us or can be ordered from your local comic shop via Diamond Comic Distributors.
JQ gives the Power Rangers Legacy Red Ranger Helmet a 6/10. I would have ranked it higher if the helmet was made from a harder sturdier plastic. Make no mistake this is a very welcome addition to my collection, and should be for any Power Ranger fan as well.
