Today, both TriForce and Square Enix announced Q4 2012 release dates for their new Mass Effect 3-themed pieces. Don’t let that stop you from getting your pre-orders in early, though — historically, both companies work with rather limited runs that tend to sell out quickly and, considering the popularity of the source material along with the fact that they all look awesome, these won’t likely last long.
First up, let’s check out TriForce’s 1:1 Scale Replica of the M-3 Predator Pistol. Crafted and cast in polystone, the artists at TriForce did an excellent job bringing this weapon to life. From the paint job to the working LED effects, the M-3 looks 100% game-accurate and is an absolute must for any cosplayer wanting to take their costume to the next level. Weighing in at ten pounds and measuring 12″ in length, this limited edition item will only see 600 pieces available worldwide and retails for $400. TriForce is accepting pre-orders on their website starting May 29th.
By now, you’ve probably heard me fawning over the three upcoming Mass Effect action figures from Square Enix/Play Arts Kai – Male Shepard, Garrus Vakarian, and Ashley Williams. Bioware posted pre-orders on their online store earlier today announcing a December 2012 ship date for this much-anticipated run of toys. Showing off finished, painted versions of the figures, they look as good as you could hope for and jam-packed with the articulation that the Big Fish Toys versions (also back up for another round of pre-orders) were so sorely lacking. It takes a lot for me to continue to purchase Mass Effect merchandise after my disappointment with the third installment, but these are just too great to pass up. Even Ashley, that obnoxiously racist sex-machine, will have a place on my shelf…although I’m still unsure why she got the Play Arts action figure treatment before Liara or Tali. In any case, Pre-orders are live now, both on Bioware’s store and BigBadToyStore’s website.
