S.H. Figuarts Smells What The Rock is Cooking

Bandai/Tamashii Nations just added another notch in their licensing belt with the addition of a WWE Super Star action figure of the MOST ELECTRIFYING MAN IN SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT!

I want to start off by saying this figure has some flaws, but with the flaws I completely love it! This review hard to type because I am very conflicted. WWE has branded their products on lunch boxes, backpacks, action figures, T-shirts, hats, and movies. To see this team up with Bandai/Tamashii Nations with the S.H. Figuarts line was a match made in heaven. Stone Cold Steve Austin and HHH are in this initial release with rumors of the Undertaker and John Cena coming later if the line continues. I will start with the cons of this figure. SIZE!!!! The Rock is a massive man and this body style seems to be a tad too skinny to believe this is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The facial scan is off on the iconic eyebrow look, but the other scans look fine. There is also a darker hue to the head sculpts that get lost on the glossy skin tone of the body. Also, strange as it is there is no bicep swivel. These cons were not deal breakers for me as I am a fan of The Rock and enjoy his character.

The pros to this figure help offset the cons. You get three extra heads, a microphone, and four sets of hands. Articulation that we come to expect (except for the lack of bicep swivel) to recreate memorable moments from The Rock. The only move you cannot really recreate is “The People’s Elbow”. The just bring it head is got to be the most scan accurate of the bunch. However, you just cannot help but put him in the microphone “FINALLY” stance. The elbow pads are painted on and there were no flaws to that application. The silver on the wrestling trunks was also spot on with no flaws at all. The hands with articulated fingers was a nice touch as well.

If you can get over the lack of size to this figure he is amazing and I look forward to seeing how Stone Cold stacks up. The Rock is available now on the secondary market for about $60-$65. JQ gives S.H. Figuarts The Rock a 6.8/10.
