Also, Stick is a character in Dardevil on Netflix!
I’m getting really, really hopeful about Daredevil, the first Marvel TV show to debut next year on Netflix. I’ve always loved the character, and everything we’ve seen thus far has shown lots of promise– it’s fairly obvious we’re going to see something in the gritty Frank Miller era of the blind super hero on the small screen, and the casting has been, by and large, stellar.
We can now add another highlight which lends credence to both the good cast and good choice of source material– Scott Glenn (SO GOOD on HBO’s The Leftovers) has joined the cast as Matt Murdock’s martial arts mentor. Stick is a seriously cool character, and Glenn not only looks the part, but has the chops to make this guy both the father figure and total badass he needs to be.
Here is what Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb had to say about the casting:
“Stick is one of the most important figures in Matt Murdock’s life and Scott Glenn embodies all the qualities of someone so integral to this hero’s journey. There are few actors who could bring such the authenticity, gravitas and charisma to such a key role in Matt’s journey to become the super hero we call Daredevil.”
If they somehow manage to Agents of SHIELD this show, and it’s anything less than awesome, I will be seriously disappointed.
