We talked to a lot of toy companies at Comic Con this year, but the one that really felt like they were listening to fans was DC Collectibles. In a lot of cases when talking to the reps they don’t talk about what other companies are doing or really listening to fans, but the DC Collectibles team seems to do both. Although DC has been doing figures for years, what they are doing now is much different than the older figures. The increased details and articulation in Icons and Animated lines has been learning curve, with some missteps along the way. Without even bringing it up they acknowledged the issue with the hips on the new Icons Superman and have already taken steps to improve the hip joints for future figures. They are fans just like us, and although not every figure is perfect you can see that they take responsibility for the issues and look for ways to correct them.
But talking about how they are improving things was not all they had to show. The expansion of their figures lines was impressive to see, not to mention some of the new stuff they are doing. The Bombshells line of statues will continue adding Aquaman to the mix, but thanks to the success of the line figures are coming soon too. The animated line is growing with new villains from the original series, Poison Ivy and Freeze(not show in the gallery), and some of the New Adventures, Catwoman and Riddler. They also announced the start of the Superman line with Superman and Lois, who looked amazing in person. Wonder Woman stole the show this year with a ton of statues, figures, and props from the upcoming film.
This year DC Collectibles looks like the DC line to beat, making skipping the big box retail lines easy to skip!
