Sometimes You Just Have to Let Go

In a collector’s life there are times when you give up part of your collection. It can be for various reasons, but whatever they are, it is always a hard choice to make.

Over the years I have been a big fan of the DC universe, and that means I have a lot of Batman items all over my house. A few years ago I got into collecting the DC Direct 1:6th scale figures, but that part of my collection is coming to an end.

It’s never easy giving up part of your collection, but from time to time things do get sold, traded, or given away.  There are many reasons collectors occasionally clean house– space, time, money, or a new collection comes along.  Whatever the reason is it’s never an easy choice deciding what should go and what should stay. My DC Direct 13 inch figures are on the “go” list.

For the last five years, these figures have been part of my office, but now it’s time to let them go. DC Direct has shifted focus, changing its name to DC Collectibles, and that change means less 13 inch figures. With the lack of new figures the excitement in collecting this line is gone. There was also some sentimental value to them that has also changed, making it much easier to make the choice to give up this part of my collection. I will miss them but I decided to keep the first one I bought, Nightwing.

The rest of have got to go so I’m putting them on eBay this week. I can only hope that they’ll go to good home and someone will enjoy them as much as I have over the past five years. What part of your collection have you let go?
