Spielberg to Direct Roald Dahl’s The BFG

the-BFG-featThis is kind of a BFD.

There’s been a lot of talk as to what project legendary director Steven Spielberg would tackle next.  And while there’s no clear sign as to what will be the next film in his queue, he’s been attached to a new, family movie project– a big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Big Friendly Giant.

That’s awesome– The BFG has always been my favorite Dahl book, and it’s never really gotten its due as an adaptation.  And while Spielberg’s family-themed movies have been hit or miss (remember Hook?), this movie will reunite him with writer Melissa Mathison, who wrote Spielberg’s classic E.T.

So there’s a lot of talent attached to this movie, and the source material is wonderful, and long due for a high profile movie treatment.  So I’m a little bit excited for this Big Friendly Giant.
