We may have received a first look at the Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper helmets from the new Star Wars sequel!
Two images are making the rounds on the internet which are supposedly the updated designs of the Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper helmets as they will be seen in JJ Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII. There’s obviously no official word on the legitimacy of these designs… and probably won’t be anytime soon what with Abrams’ notorious love for mystery… but I think they look awesome!
The helmets are sleeker in design than their OT counterparts, but they still feel very, very Star Wars authentic to me. They’ve got a strong Ralph McQuarrie influence going on, and– most importantly for this franchise– they’d make for some great looking action figures. Especially in that badass Snowtrooper– the lines, the silhouette, the lighting… everything about this image SCREAMS Star Wars to me:

Both designs fit what we’ve seen so far with stuff like the desert shanty town and the X-Wing Abrams placed himself in front of previously… And I’m counting these trooper styles as another visual win for the latest Star Wars movie.
Of course, aesthetics is Abrams’ specialty, so I kind of figured he’d nail that in Episode VII… I’m personally much more keen to learn more about our new characters, and the new story. Those are the elements I truly believe are going to either make or break this movie.
What do you think? Are you digging these updated trooper designs, if they’re legit?
