Toy Fair 2016: Mattel Thundercats Showcase

Thundercats are on the loose, and we got our first real look at the figures at Toy Fair.

The room was crowded at Mattel’s Toy Fair Collector Event, and I only got a quick look, but the Thundercats Classics looked amazing. The first four figures were on display, but Panthro was absent. Apparently the tough guy’s head was missing, which meant he did not make the display. Not much was shown or talked about past what we already know, but there were some fun accessories featured with Pumyra and the subscription-exclusive Mumm-Ra.

The Mummy version of the villain includes the hilt of the Sword of Plundarr, and Pumyra had the Totem of Dera alongside her. It is exciting to know that the first figures are coming with items from the end of the series, and it will be great to see more Easter eggs as the line grows. While Jaga and Grune were not on display, there was some talk that Grune will be bigger than the average figure, while Jaga a bit slender.

I wish there was more to talk about… but only time will tell if Mattel’s Thundercats line will go the distance. And by the look of the first few figures, it definitely has the ability.
