The highlight of Toy Fair? Of course…Mezco Toyz! And, believe you me, it was elbow to elbow the entire time.
The lines to view the new goodies snaked between giant displays of past and present One: 12 Collective figures of DC and Marvel characters, and the company’s mascot, Gomez. Some of the highlights from the booth? Clearly, the upcoming Ghost Rider, Alien (as in that Alien), Predator, Thanos and Two-Face are just some of the wallet killers coming your way this year. That, and the 20th anniversary gold plated head Gomez figure. Oh, yea. Real wallet killers.
What was nice to see there seemed to be some break down of the line, with fans being able to pick and choose what they want. A few releases from one then another, so as long as you are not all in on Mezco as a whole you have some breathing space. That being said there were some big announcements in the booth. In addition to the normal One:12 Collective lines from DC, Marvel, and Mezco’s own creatures we got the first looks at the Aliens, Predator, and Planet of the Apes joining this scale. Other companies have done an amazing job, but the level of detail and accessories are going to be hard to pass up once these get rolling. We got our first in person look at Thanos and Two Face, and that Ghost Rider bike is hard to say no to.
The other highlight for me this year was the new 5 Points line. It was teased last year at the show, with more at SDCC, and now it is just stunning. The back drops, play features and a Batmobile… Yeah I’m in for sure.
Mezco kicked off the show for us and they had so much to get us excited for the show. Oh and this year… that special bag they give to us press? It was up in full on the site. Mezco, Class act!
Ohhhhh I almost forgot… get ready for Hydra Army Builders, you’re right Jesse this is going to kill some wallets.
Thanks to Jesse for the intro and some of the gallery pics below!
