TV Korner: Doctor Who – One Thing to Take Away from “Flatline” (Season 8, Ep. 9)

…And a Discussion on When the Actors Came into their Own as the Doctor.

Hello Puddin’ Heads:

This was an interesting episode! I think Peter Capaldi finally came into his own in this episode! He finally had that moment when he took the role of the Doctor and made it is his own! And in this post I want to look back at the moments when the actors became the Doctor!

But first here is one thing I wanted to take away from the episode “Flatline”.

1. CAPALDI – COUSIN IT

This was one of the funniest moments when the Doctor tried to pull the TARDIS out of the way of an oncoming train. He used his hand!

One of the highlights of this episode was watching the Twelfth Doctor laying down the law with the Boneless. As he shouted at them, he claimed the roll of the Doctor! I wanted to list the other areas where the other actors of “NuWho” came into their own as the Doctor!

2. TWELFTH DOCTOR – PETER CAPALDI – “FLATLINE” (S8 Ep9)

DOCTOR:  I tried to talk.  I want you to remember that.  I tried to reach out, I tried to understand you, but I think that you understand us perfectly.  And I think that you just don’t care.  And I don’t know whether you are here to invade, infiltrate or just replace us.  I don’t suppose it really matters now.  You are monsters!  That is the role you seem determined to play, so it seems that I must play mine – The man that stops the monsters.

I’m sending you back to your own dimension.  Who knows?  Some of you may even survive the trip, and if you do, remember this – you are not welcome here.  This plane is protected.  I am the Doctor and I name you The Boneless!

3. ELEVENTH DOCTOR – MATT SMITH – “THE RINGS OF AKHATEN” (S7 Ep 7)

4. TENTH DOCTOR – DAVID TENNANT – “SCHOOL REUNION” (S2 Ep3) & “THE GIRL IN THE FIREPLACE” (S2 Ep4)

NOTE: It was in these two episodes Tennant really found his footing as the Doctor!

5. NINTH DOCTOR – CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON “BADWOLF” (S1 Ep 12)
