Here’s the opening of the How To Train Your Dragon sequel!

I love How To Train Your Dragon.  It’s one of those movies I feel has improved with age– it was cute when I first saw it, but has become a constant rewatch in the years since, and it’s got everything that makes for a great kids movie.  There’s tons of gorgeous visuals, interesting and fully realized characters, and some important messages well stated, without ever getting preachy.

I watch that movie whenever I catch a minute of it on TV, and I already know that if I have kids, it will be required viewing.

In the meantime, we’re getting a sequel this summer, and based on the five minute teaser below, this could measure up to the wonderful original.  There’s lots of fun stuff going on here, and once again the world of vikings and dragons seems very well thought out and delightfully lived-in… I love the matching “war paint” on the dragons and their riders, and we get not one but two rather thrilling action sequences in this opening clip alone.

Seeing this has definitely ramped up my excitement for the sequel, which opens June 13th.  I can’t wait to go back to this world!
