Watch Guillermo Del Toro’s Couch Gag From The Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror
One moment of Simpson brilliance per year? Check.
The Simpsons kicks off its millionth season this Sunday with Treehouse of Horror XXIV, and while I normally wouldn’t pay that much attention, they’re doing something pretty amazing for the opening sequence couch gag– they’ve passed the reigns to Guillermo Del Toro to unleash probably the best sequence they’ve done in the last 20 years.
The montage is a cool spin on the classic Simpsons open, packed full of references to Del Toro’s works, as well as countless other staples of horror cinema. It’s honestly amazing, and it’s enough to motivate me to check out the full episode this Sunday, because if it’s half as good as this couch gag, we’ll be in for a real pre-Halloween treat.
